Hello everyone. For the first time ever a Multi Club BBQ social event will be held at Denny’s Dam Park on August 24, 2024. The Multi Club BBQ was created to get all our sister clubs and partners together for a day of fun and food that we hope will become an annual event. Food includes beef brisket, chicken legs/thighs, and pulled pork, all smoked by Almost Famous BBQ. As with all our other functions donations of sides, salads and desserts are always appreciated.

It was another great turnout for the spring Derby on Saturday May 4, 2024. The weather was fabulous, 79 adults and 13 juniors registered for the Derby.

It’s that time of year again. Ontario Steelheaders are hosting their Annual Spring Steelhead Trout Derby at the Denny’s Dam Park located on the Saugeen River Saturday May 4th.
The entry fee is $10, which includes dinner. As part of the fee we are asking all Derby participants to bring a non-perishable food item. All food collected will be donated to the local food bank.
Chris will be at the park Friday morning for early registration. The derby starts Saturday 7:00 am and ends at 4:00 pm sharp.
Afterwards, dinner will be served in the park at the Rod Jones Pavillion, at which time prizes and trophies will be awarded.
Kincardine Hatchery Open House and Fin Clipping
Attention: All high school students, parents of high school students and anybody wanting to help. From time to time The Ontario Steelheaders, The Lake Huron Fishing Club and the Kincardine Hatchery have opportunities for high school students to earn volunteer hours. The hatchery will be clipping fins starting at 8:00 am on March 2nd (this Saturday) and needs helping hands. Also, on March 2 the hatchery will be holding an open house from 10 am to 2 pm. Everybody is encouraged to come witness an extremely important reason why we are blessed with such a great fishery. Anybody wishing to help clip fins this Saturday are asked to call Craig (Bunzzie) at (519) 502-0001.

The 2024 Ontario Fishing Regulations Summary is available online. From time to time, the Ministry of Natural Resources may make changes to the Fishing Regulations. Changes include:
- Changes to rules related to the possession, use and transport of preserved baitfish and leeches (p. 19)
- Changes to list of species of fish that can be used live as bait
- Updated formatting for non-resident anglers in FMZ 5 (p. 35-42)
- Changes to size restrictions for Walleye and Sauger on Lake of the Woods (p. 38-39)
- Changes to zone-wide seasons and limits for Northern Pike and Walleye in FMZ 10 (p. 77-78)
- Harmonize seasons and limits in the French River for Northern Pike, Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass, and Walleye (p. 82, 90)
- Changes to Additional Fishing Opportunities for Brook Trout and Lake Trout in FMZ 8 and FMZ 10.
- Changes to Fish Sanctuaries in FMZs 10, 11, and 18.
- MNRF was working with Fisheries and Oceans Canada to finalize several changes to the Ontario Fishery Regulations. These changes have now been approved, and will be implemented January 1, 2024.

By this Wednesday 20 – 35 cm of snow is forecast for Denny’s Dam Park. Consequently, the park will be closed effective immediately and will not re-open until the Spring.
